The Dead Rise First Rapture Countdown by Alton Ragan and Robert D. McLaughlin is a Christian fiction book about the rapture. The story opens with the town of Jordan waking up to a power outage. Many people soon discover that it is not just the power that is out, but everything that is electronic including cell phones and cars is not working.
The story centers on Jack and his family. Jack is the pastor of the local church and seems to be well known throughout the community.
As the story unfolds, there are reports of people seeing and talking to dead relatives who were known to be Christians while alive. There are reports of open graves in the cemetery with caskets open and bodies missing. The events of the day and what is to come is explained by a “prophecy expert” at the church. There are those that believe what he says and some who don’t.
In the world of Christian fiction, I would have to classify this book as “hard-core Christian fiction”. Unlike the “soft-core Christian fiction” that mentions the Bible or has an occasional prayer by a character, this book is packed with Scripture, prayers, and preaching.
The book was enjoyable and easy to read. Whether the reader believes in the Bible or not, there is plenty of food for thought. An outstanding, family friendly book that anyone can enjoy.
